Forty Days of Prayer-Day 29: For Paid Critiquers

writing-woman

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17–Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

Dear Omniscient Father,

You have already answered the prayers before they are written. Before they are read. And before they are spoken. You have already ordained what the writer needs to learn and what the instructor must impart.

The Apostle Paul took years of waiting before he began Your work. You sent those His way to teach Him, to minister to Him, and to inspire Him. Many new writers and some not so new seek encouragement and strengthening during this conference time. We pray for them, Father. Not just for them, but for the teachers and encouragers who will guide them.

And we especially pray for those who will be critiquing another writer’s work. Writers have invested from limited resources to hear these words. We pray for receptive and discerning ears as well as forthright and legitimate criticism. We pray for Your Spirit to go ahead to be with those who will be critiquing. We pray for eyes that will not only see the mistakes but will also see potential. We pray for comments that will inspire authors to grow in their craft. Most of all we ask for Truth. Sometimes, those critiquing may have to share harsh realities. We pray for receptive listeners that will take the seeds of instruction, nurture them, and grow good works that will honor You.

In Jesus Name,
Amen
