When I started writing, I didn’t know anything about how to properly format a manuscript. I gathered this information over the years from books and lectures and online and eventually figured it all out. But I’m a visual learner, and I had always wished that someone could have simply shown me how to do these things.

A while back, I created a 5-part podcast series for my Teenage Authors blog on how to properly format a manuscript for submission. These podcasts were designed to help new writers learn how to accomplish some of the formatting tricks in Word. The podcasts are for the older version of Microsoft Word, but some of you newer writers may find them useful. If you have any questions, let me know.

  1. Excellent podcast! Where were you when I first started writing? You broke that down really good.

    In one of my older mss I remember seeing an arrow pointing to the left. Aha–now I know it’s called a manual line break. :-}

    Thank you, Jill!
