Conference Book Store
The conference bookstore is back! We’re grateful the St. Louis venue offers us enough space for an onsite bookstore in 2014. What a wonderful place to hang out between sessions, whether for research—What covers draw the eye? What’s trending in historicals? Who else is writing YA real life?—or for discovering new titles by your favorite authors and books by new-to-you authors. With an onsite bookstore, attendees can get their purchases autographed during the weekend, pick up the Carol Awards finalists’ books, as well as get a clear picture of the breadth and depth of current Christian fiction.
This year, ACFW is partnering with Family Christian Stores to provide our onsite bookstore where attendees can explore and purchase a wide variety of Christian fiction published by conferees plus craft books written by faculty and our keynote speaker. Family Christian is a ministry-minded retail corporation. From the Family Christian website: “Even the smallest effort can make a significant impact on those around you and around the world. And that’s exactly what you do every time you shop at a Family Christian store!” Family Christian is pouring into the education of ACFW members by donating a portion of profits to the ACFW Foundation for scholarships. Come find titles by your favorite authors and discover great new reads, including Carol Award finalists’ novels. Watch for special package offers and sales, too.
It’s not uncommon for attendees to make frequent trips to the bookstore after a random encounter with an author or after hearing a faculty member’s presentation. That first view of the bookstore set up with hundreds of books representing the work and imaginations of hundreds of ACFW members is breathtaking…and yet another reason to thank God for what He’s doing through ACFW. It’s a celebration for the publishing houses represented, too, and a stunning reflection of the power of story. Make it a point to carve time for bookstore visits.
Thank you, Family Christian Stores! ACFW is grateful for retailers who enthusiastically promote Christian fiction.
