The Finalists for the Carol Award

Psalm 31:14-15a–But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord. I say, You are my God. My times are in Your hand.

Father God, we worship You, not awards. Even when we hold an award in our hands, we want our attention focused on You. Everything we are and have comes from You. Every good and perfect gift, every talent, every story–from You. Lord, in Your infinite grace and mercy, we ask You to bless with a deep sense of fulfillment all those who entered their books–their creativity in print–in the Book of the Year/Carol Award, whether they finaled or not. Lord, hold in the palm of Your Hand all those who finaled and grant them such confidence in You that they will rejoice no matter which book rises to the top among these excellent works.

Lord, nothing else matters except pleasing You. We lay our elation and our disappointments at Your feet. We ask You to use the results of this award process to further Your Kingdom, encourage those who write for You, and reach even more readers with hope-giving stories.

Have Your way, Lord. Nothing else will ultimately satisfy.

In the precious Name of Jesus, without Whom we’d have nothing to write about, and no lasting reason to celebrate, Amen.
