I started to title this ‘Persevere Until The End,’ but then I thought…NO. It isn’t the end-it’s the beginning of a new world for you the writer, the author, the published novelist.

That was my dream twenty-seven years ago. Some people are blessed with their first manuscript becoming an over-night success. I wasn’t one of those. If you weren’t either, I hope my blog will be an encouraging word to you.

The first idea for a story came to me after being laid up for a couple of months not able to do anything but read, read, read. As a person who loves to read, it wasn’t a chore until the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. That’s when I said, “You know, Lord, I can do this.” I heard in my spirit, “Yes. You can.” And suddenly the first idea of a story came to me. Grabbing a spiral notebook full of blank pages, I busied myself filling them.

After five years and five handwritten manuscripts tucked away, I met with other people who had the same burning desire to write. They talked about getting published. I didn’t think I wanted that, but the more I met with the other writers the more I knew that was what I was supposed to do-write books so that others could read and enjoy them. Then my prayer became, “Lord, please connect me with a publisher who believes in me and my stories. One who believes in You as much as I do.”

Over the next twenty years I learned the craft of writing. The gift of story telling God had put in me, but then I had to learn to fine-tune my stories. After several rejections I wanted to give up, telling myself I misunderstood what God wanted me to do, but then through Scripture He spoke to me about perseverance.

Eighteen manuscripts later, my first book, Grace, a Gift of Love was published. Book two and three followed but I felt no connection with the publishers. Then one day, I received an e-mail from a Ramona Tucker, editor & co-owner of Oak Tara Publishing. The rest is history. God sent a publisher who not only loved the way I wrote, but loved God and His Word as much-if not more-than me. A true believer. THAT WAS GOD! Four years later I consider her my friend.

My fourth book, The Truth Revealed, book 3 of The Samantha Cain Mystery Series is about to be released. My fifth and sixth book with them are under contract, both to be released within the next twelve months.

So don’t give up! God gives us each a passion for something to further His Kingdom. If you’re reading this, it’s a good chance writing for God is your passion too.
